The Nova Scotia Construction Safety Association (NSCSA) is a provincial leader in workplace safety. Since inception in 1994, the NSCSA has helped reduce injuries in the construction industry by 60% through awareness, training, auditing and other initiatives.

The NSCSA is seeking to fill the position of Financial Administrator.

As the ideal candidate you have earned a diploma/degree, or college certification, in the accounting field, plus a minimum of 1 year experience. You must have strong organizational skills and a desire for accuracy. You must be proficient in the use of database, word processing and Simply Accounting software. Time management skills, a strong work ethic and the ability to work under pressure will be considered an asset.

Reporting to the Comptroller, and as a key part of the Operations Department, your primary duties will include:

Handling all account inquiries, including, but not limited to, confirming account balances for both general inquiries and in relation to the issuance of a Letter of Good Standing
Processing all invoices related to training services, COR Evaluations, member services, associate memberships and safety support material
Regular review of overdue accounts receivable amounts and their collection
Handling and processing all invoice payments and course prepayments including entering them into a computerized system
Generation and preparation of bank deposits including sorting cheques, printing bank deposit records and entering information in corresponding manual bank deposit book. This also includes processing monies and supporting documentation received from Product Services for deposit and may include transporting banking information to the bank.
Assisting the Comptroller, in whole or in part, with the completion of monthly bank reconciliations
Generating accounts receivable reports as required
Administration of the Associate Member Plus processes. This includes notifying companies of upcoming expiry, processing payments and issuing applications for Associate Member Plus customers
Responsibility for reconciling financial accounts upon customer account inquiry and forwarding adjustments to the Comptroller for processing
Responsible for performing day-end procedures for the Safety Training System (STS) including posting all processed NSCSA courses and performing day-end update of the STS
Maintaining the filing system for all supporting documentation pertinent to the accounts receivable function
Providing back up support for reception as required
Attending and participating in departmental meetings
Performing miscellaneous tasks and duties as assigned by NSCSA management
