Communications Co-Ordinator – City of North Battleford – North Battleford, SK

The City of North Battleford is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic professional who is ready to undertake a challenging but rewarding role in Communications. This position is the key media contact and must be committed to promoting the City`s positive role in the public domain and coordinate all external marketing efforts.

 Core functions of this position include but, are not limited to:

Writing content for and distributing advisories, news releases, reports from City Council meetings, backgrounders, speaking notes, fact sheets, brochures, articles, advertising, research results, and City of North Battleford annual reports.
Creation of website and social media content as well as multi-media and internet-based marketing materials for all departments.
Managing internal communications, including the City employee Intranet.
Developing individual communication strategies for all policies, programs, and events for all departments.
Maintaining and building effective media relations and contacts with local, provincial and national media outlets.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILL/KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

Formal  academic education in marketing, public relations, advertising, communications, web/social media management, marketing research or journalism with a minimum of 2 years of work experience in a capacity relevant to this position.
Excellent oral and written communication is crucial. Negotiation, organizational, planning and time management skills are critical to the position.
Experience and skills in public relations and developing overall strategic communication and marketing plans.
Excellent knowledge of the principles of effective communication and marketing, public relations and promotion and media operations.
Strong commitment to customer service, professionalism, community, initiative and motivation.
Experience in coordinating communication projects and/or events that include multiple communications products.  For example this might include special projects or City initiated community events and open houses.
Experience in the use of web management software.
Working knowledge and use of Adobe and Microsoft software programs such as Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Publisher.
