Policy / Research Analyst – Provincial Advisory Council on the Status of Women – St. John’s

10 Month Contract Commencing August 2015 To May 2016

The Provincial Advisory Council on the Status of Women (PACSW) is looking for a bright, enthusiastic, self-starter interested in working with a small staff and Council team dedicated to advancing the status of women in the Province.

Duties:

Analyze potential effects of government policies, programs, services and legislation on the status of women, comment on initiatives, and provide this information to the President/CEO for presentation to Government.
Research and draft position papers and reports on equality issues affecting the status of women for presentation by the President/CEO to Government, other women’s organizations and the public.
Monitor provincial and national research sources relevant to the status of women.
Participate in selected external committees and attend events as required.
Respond to individual requests for information as appropriate.
General office administration and other duties as required.

The work involves keeping on top of current issues affecting the status of women as they arise to ensure PACSW can respond and/or provide advice and recommendations appropriately. This position must strike a balance between keeping on top of current issues and day-to-day responsibilities while maintaining the confidence and respect of both government and community.

Qualifications:
The incumbent requires a University degree with courses in Social Policy, Legislation and Gender Studies as a preference.  The incumbent must have a minimum of 3 years job-related experience, a thorough understanding of gender-based analysis and policy development as well as exceptional research, writing and analytical skills. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.

This position is open to women only in accordance with an approved Special Program under s. 8 of the Human Rights Act.

Salary Range:  $62,564-$68,977 with benefits package.
