Experienced Male Home Share Providers – Burnaby – Strive Living Society

A large non-profit organization is currently seeking Experienced Male Family Care Providers to provide care and support in their own home to individuals with mental health, addictions, and/or developmental disabilities. We currently have a high demand for homes with no children. Care providers must be comfortable supporting individuals with challenging behaviours, mental health issues, and addictions.

Prospective Care Providers should:
Be comfortable working individually and as part of a multi-disciplinary team of professionals
Have a minimum of one year experience working with individuals with disabilities
Have a minimum of one year of medical and/or community support experience (i.e. care aide, nursing, community support work, mental health worker, addiction counsellor, social work, etc.)
Experience working with an individual with difficult/challenging behaviours
Be comfortable with addictions and substance abuse
Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Training an asset

Additional Qualifications (or willing to obtain):
Emergency First Aid (Adult Care)
CPR (level A)
A positive criminal record check
Food Safe Certificate
A negative TB test
A Valid BC Driver’s Licence, and a driver’s abstract from ICBC

In the cover letter you need to have the following information: who lives in the home (adults, children, pets), what accommodations are available (room or suite), what level of the home the accommodations are located (ground level, upstairs or main floor) and a description of your experience working with individuals with disabilities, mental health, addictions and/or medical issues.
