PRIME Assistant – New Westminster Police Department

An exciting opportunity exists on an auxiliary basis for PRIME Assistant with the New Westminster Police Department. Working with the PRIME Specialist in this auxiliary role you will be responsible for assisting with the monitoring and maintaining of records in the Police Records Information Management System (PRIME). You will conduct audits of PRIME data as well as participating in the development of policies, procedures as well as assisting in the creation of and delivery of staff training.

REQUIREMENTS:
Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by courses related to Police information systems and software plus considerable related work experience in a Police environment.
Considerable working knowledge of PRIME as well as general police departmental functions and records management system requirements.
Sound working knowledge of clerical and record keeping methods and procedures and software applications used in the work.
Working knowledge of police crime investigation activities and procedures as they relate to the work.
Demonstrated ability to perform work with a high level of detail and organizational skill in maintaining records, files, correcting, modifying, deleting, and adding information to records.
Prior experience in the development of training materials and experience in training delivery (preferred).
Demonstrated ability to deal effectively and courteously with the public and staff members.
Ability to work independently and take prompt action to accomplish objectives.
Ability to problem solve and use appropriate judgment.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to pass and maintain a Police Background check and clearance.
Successful applicants will need to be available for training for at least two (2) months full-time or three (3) months at a minimum three (3) days per week.
Once training has been completed, successful applicants must be able to work a minimum two (2) shifts per week and may be needed for up to five (5) shifts per week between the hours of 0800-1600, Monday-Friday.
