Director, Digital Strategy – Town of Oakville – Oakville, ON

The Town of Oakville is embracing digital solutions to enhance citizen service, drive operational excellence and meet the challenges of a mobile-first world. Our “One town, One customer, One window” culture of service innovation is changing the way we do business. We are now looking at further opportunities to transform Oakville into a 21st century digital government, making our online services simpler, easier and faster to use. This transformation, which must be business-driven, will require a new philosophy, culture and approach to digital initiatives. We are looking for a creative and collaborative leader who looks across departmental and corporate boundaries to achieve broad solutions that meet our goal for the web to be our customers’ first choice for services and digital, by default, to be our guiding principle.

As the Director – Digital Strategy, you will work closely with business partners and key stakeholders to articulate a digital strategy and governance framework. By assessing the town’s current business processes and technology environment, you will recommend digital priorities that result in enhanced customer experiences, a stronger information management culture and increase our efficiency and effectiveness. You will provide leadership to project teams to build better solutions for our customers. You will help staff understand the need for transformation, identify opportunities within their departments and realize the benefits of making town services simpler and better for our citizens.

As a savvy thought leader, you will advise the town on current and emerging trends, methods and technologies that will be most effective for the town in meeting its objectives. Because of your years of experience working in large, complex organizations, you feel comfortable establishing a single vision that spans different businesses and can inspire enthusiasm in getting others to embrace the digital vision. You understand the challenges in shifting goals and priorities across an organization, and you will bring energy, resiliency and adaptability to overcome resistance to change.

As an active champion of digital services and a strong project leader, your past assignments will demonstrate an ability to earn organizational support and commitment to change. You know how to create work environments in which people are motivated to achieve goals and objectives. You know how to effectively manage diverse relationships and adapt your approach to get things done, and you are able to adapt your messages to effectively communicate and influence both executives and employees.  You are prepared to keep communicating the digital vision until it is understood by every employee and citizen.
