Eco Program Coordinator – City of Toronto – High Park, Toronto

The Children’s Eco Programs develop and deliver garden and nature focused environmental programs for school and community groups, registered cooking programs and Eco camps for children and youth. For more information about the Programs please visit http://childrensecoprograms.ca/ .

Major Responsibilities

Administers and oversees the delivery of Children’s Eco Programs and Eco Camps.
Assists in planning, delivery and evaluation of events, drop-in programs and workshops.
Assists in the preparation and delivery of staff training in environmental programming (i.e. local ecology, organic gardening, children’s environmental programming and recreational policies & procedures).
Assists in coordinating garden site preparation, planting, development, harvest and maintenance.
Assists and supports satellite garden and program sites City-wide.
Coordinates, administers and supports staff.
Performs administrative tasks to support the program.
Coordinates program volunteers, contacts, partnerships, sponsorships and program documentation.
Interacts with parents, schools, community agencies, City staff and the public to provide program information.
Assists with budget recording and reporting.
Coordinates CLASS and Fun Guide submissions.
Provides promotional materials, reports and supplies.
Assists with development, preparation and submission of proposals.
Coordinates research, planning, preparation and delivery of new or special projects.
Attends and participates in meetings and training sessions.
Travels from site to site.

Qualifications

Experience in developing, coordinating and supervising children’s recreational and or outdoor environmental programming, including camps
Administrative and organizational experience and knowledge of budget and accounting procedures
Experience coordinating staff and/or volunteers
Proficiency in use of current office technology and other computer applications relevant to the position. (i.e. CLASS Program Registration & Program Maintenance)
Experience developing and delivering staff or volunteer training preferred.
Knowledge of organic gardening, local ecology, environmental issues and Toronto’s heritage is an asset.
Knowledge & understanding of all relevant City regulations, policies and procedures an asset.
Must produce original current Standard First Aid and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation certifications as recognized by the WSIB.
Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s license.

Period of Employment

End of March 2016 to early October 2016
32-40 hours/wk depending on season, primarily weekdays 9-4pm, in summer some 8am starts
some evening and/or weekend work will be required

$21.45 per hour
