Manager Information Technologies – BC School Trustees Association

The British Columbia School Trustees Association (BCSTA) is looking for an in-house Manager of Information Technologies. This position is primarily responsible for the development, implementation, management, and support of all office IT equipment; hardware, software, networking, databases, Association (AMS) and document management systems (DMS), including proactive identification, selection, procurement, and implementation of appropriate infrastructure, resources and processes to support BCSTA’s goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
Researches, purchases, and implements the appropriate IT-focused technologies and equipment to support BCSTA’s varied business needs
Proactively analyzes current and projected future IT and equipment needs, and proposes suitable, cost effective hardware, software, and equipment solutions and alternatives
Ensures continuous performance of all computer systems and routinely updates or modifies systems for optimal performance
Provides timely technical assistance to support staff use of multi-platform office-resident and mobile devices and equipment (i.e. office equipment, servers, workstations, software, DMS, databases, laptops, smart phones, tablets, etc.)
Supports the Communications Department with timely infrastructure, maintenance, and troubleshooting services for its management of website development and functionality
Provides training and support to staff, the Board of Directors and Standing Committee members in the use of equipment and technologies necessary for the performance of their duties (i.e. online meeting software, DMS, and so on)
Ensures the security of all data and information stored on workstations and servers, and facilitates the recovery of data in the event of equipment failure or disaster
Manages BCSTA databases and document management system

Performs or oversees contractor performance of:
Design of Information Technology network infrastructure.
Purchase and set up of computer hardware, software, and other equipment as required (i.e. servers, workstations, local area networks, laptops; telephone equipment, cell phones, photocopiers, etc.)
Ensures equipment, multi-platform software, hardware and network installs, re-installs, upgrades, moves, migrations, changes and relocations, etc. are made when necessary
Routinely analyzes performance of equipment, servers, workstations, and software, etc. and makes modifications as necessary
Diagnoses and resolves performance issues to ensure optimal performance and reliability of all office equipment, networks, hardware, software, and mobile devices
Maintains a current and detailed departmental operations manual
