Volunteer Program Coordinator – City of Maple Ridge – Maple Ridge, BC

We are looking for someone to be part of an energetic team to build a community of volunteers in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows with the ability to work as a team and motivate others

The main focus of this position is to ensure for the provision of effective office support and volunteer coordination service for the Community Policing Unit of the RCMP, under the supervision of the Volunteer Services Supervisor. Your main responsibility will be to recruit and motivate volunteers. organize and implement a variety of crime prevention programs utilizing volunteers, and provides and oversees related program operational and administrative support.
 
Required Experience and Skills

Recruit, interview and selects volunteers.
Schedules and motivates volunteers engaged in clerical support and crime prevention program activities
Provides orientation and on-going training and guidance; assigns, monitors and evaluates volunteer’s work.
Organizes and implements community based crime prevention activities for programs such as Block Watch, Block Parent, Citizens on Patrol and Speed Patrol.
Operates C.P.I.C., P.R.I.M.E., L.E.I.P., AND P.I.R.S. systems as needed to conduct criminal record checks and prepare criminal activity reports.
Ensures for the effective provision of office support services; develops and maintains office systems, methods, files and records; maintains equipment and supplies for office and
Community policing activities; prepares correspondence and newsletters; responds to information requests.
Liaises with a variety of contacts such as community service agencies, government bodies, police members and members of the public on matters related to available services and community resources; promotes and encourages participation in community policing and crime prevention programs and activities; organizes and participates in special events; participates on various committees.
As required, provides emergency crisis intervention, emotional support and referrals to victims and witnesses of crime and trauma.
Intakes criminal and complaint reports from the public; interviews victim/complainant by telephone or in person to record details; enters information into appropriate systems.
Prepares and delivers presentation to community groups in relation to volunteer crime prevention programs.
Swears affidavits on subpoenas.

Desired Training, Experience  And Education

Experience in the management of volunteer programs and supervision of volunteers.
Ability to obtain and maintain an RCMP Enhanced Reliability clearance
Completion of the 12th school grade including or supplemented by courses in commercial subjects and volunteer coordination, and related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia.
