Falls Brook Centre has an opening for a highly motivated, self-directed person to run Falls Brook Centre’s Education Program. We are looking for someone who has creative drive to approach education in a holistic way that can meet the needs of different age groups and levels of experience. This position will involve working directly with schools and community groups in our four program areas: biodiversity, renewable energy, local food and thriving communities.

We are looking for someone who has hands on and theoretical knowledge of local sustainability issues and solutions. Teaching experience and/or training is required. She/he is a quick and eager learner, can handle several tasks at once, and can work with others to develop innovative workshops and programs that work in and out of the classroom. From broad direction on a project, she/he can discern priorities, establish tasks to be done, carry them out with minimal supervision, and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

Education Program

Outreach to schools and local community groups
Deliver educational programming in classrooms
Build upon and facilitate current educational programs
Promote and facilitate field trips at FBC
Develop and support Eco Clubs at local schools
Implement Renewable Energy Presentations at the middle school level
Work closely with program coordinators to develop new educational workshops and materials.

Administration

Managing project budgets
Grant writing
Project monitoring and evaluation
Reporting

Falls Brook Centre Site

Assist with Falls Brook Centre events
Assist with day to day running of the site

Skills

Bilingualism will be considered a strong asset
Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
Classroom management and group facilitation experience
Computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, social media)

The Education Coordinator must be comfortable working remotely, in an office, traveling within the province (primarily north western New Brunswick) to deliver programming, and as part of a small multi-disciplinary team.

This is a contract position scheduled to conclude in March 2016, but extendable upon successful performance and acquisition of funding.
