Full-time, 35 hours per week

Ecosource is an innovative environmental organization that empowers the community to become more environmentally responsible through creative public education. We specialize in hands-on programming that aims to increase environmental sustainability in Peel Region and beyond.

The Position:

Ecosource is seeking an experienced, organized, enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to manage our Waste Education Programs portfolio. Our Waste Education Programs are delivered on behalf of the Regional Municipality of Peel and provide support and educational opportunities to teachers and students from Kindergarten to grade 12. The position will include providing leadership to our team of educators, creating program refinements, supporting the management of the fee-for-service contract, delivering, monitoring and evaluating workshops, waste audits, and school-wide waste reduction campaigns to foster a school-wide culture of waste reduction in schools. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.

Responsibilities

Oversight and delivery of workshops and campaigns focused on waste reduction in Mississauga schools, using a whole schools approach
Provide leadership to team of educators
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with program stakeholders in (school principals, teachers, parents, custodians, students and community organizations, local municipalities)
Support the management of the fee-for-service contract and client relationship
Refine developed educational materials and outreach strategies for successful program delivery
Monitor, track, evaluate and report on program outcomes, supporting materials and budget
Assist with other Ecosource programs and activities as required
Represent the core values of Ecosource

Qualifications

Successful completion of a University Degree in environmental studies, applied science, environmental/civil engineering or related field and/or equivalent work experience.
Minimum three (3) years of demonstrated project management experience leading teams in waste management, working with elementary and secondary school students in a school setting and social marketing.
Working knowledge of waste management industry and related practices and policies including waste diversion measurement, relevant legislation, regulations and industry standards.
Demonstrated ability in customer service, client-vendor relationship management.
Computer literacy utilizing MS Office software applications and proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation applications.
Demonstrated public speaking, communications, presentation, promotional and public relations skills.
Strong project monitoring, tracking, evaluation and report writing skills.
Excellent communication skills to convey technical issues to stakeholders and various media and to deal effectively with the public and government officials.
Ability to work independently, multi-task and prioritize work in order to meet project deadlines.
Analytical thinker, organized, energetic, flexible, self-motivated and possesses a sense of humour
Knowledge of the Ministry of Education’s Ontario Elementary and Secondary Curriculum is an asset
Familiarity with the City of Mississauga and Region of Peel is an asset, as is experience working with diverse communities (including special needs and ESL learners) and in the non-profit sector.
Ability to work outside normal business hours, as required.

Application Information:

This is a full time (35 hrs per week) management position starting in January 2016. Salary is in the high $40,000s (dependent upon experience) and a comprehensive benefits package is offered.
