Building Inspector I – City of Penticton

The City of Penticton is in search of agile, professional applicants for a permanent full time Building Inspector I position. As a member of the lively Building and Licensing Department, the Building Inspector I will provide front line service to the citizens of Penticton. This will include activities such as responding to general permit inquiries, reviewing plans, and applying and interpreting legislated codes and bylaws throughout the City. Under the supervision of the Building and Permitting Manager, the Building Inspector I will be involved in a wide variety of construction, licensing and land development initiatives within the municipality.

The successful applicant will have a minimum of a BOABC Level I Certification with a Level I POABC Certification and a Level II BOABC Certification being an asset. Applicants should have a minimum of 5 years working experience in Construction and/or Plumbing in addition to 5 years experience as a Building Official. Familiarity with Bylaw Enforcement and Building Licensing is preferred. Exemplary interpersonal and problem solving skills will be required of the successful applicant. Proficiency in computer software, including Microsoft Office, is required. This individual will be fluent in an array of Provincial and Municipal Legislations and Policies. Those wishing to obtain this role must be in possession of a valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License with the ability to maintain it.

The hourly rate for this position is $32.86-$36.51 per hour (Pay Grade 130). The City of Penticton offers a competitive total compensation package including pension and comprehensive health and wellness benefits.
