Engineering Technician I – District of Oak Bay

As a highly motivated, results-oriented Engineering Technician, the successful candidate will provide technical support across a wide range of municipal engineering functions. The position involves project survey work, project cost estimating, inspection, asset data management and record keeping. Excellent knowledge of spatial oriented software, surveying tools and the ability to create maps is required.

The successful candidate will have thorough knowledge of the range of work carried out by a municipal engineering department including working knowledge of GIS, knowledge of basic surveying principles and methods, with the ability work with accuracy in the field using standard survey tools and technology. The position requires a strong ability to work in teams. The successful candidate will also have strong customer service orientation. The ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both orally and in writing, is required. Applicants must be registered or eligible for registration with the Applied Science Technologists Technicians of BC (ASTTBC), augmented by four years’ experience directly related to the core work of this position. A valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence for BC is required.

The successful candidate is required to supply a driver’s abstract and a copy of their credentials.
