General Manager – MRDC Operations Corporation – Hanwell, Fredericton, Oromocto

Reports to: Executive Committee of MRDC Operations Corporation
Location: MRDC Operations Corporation 203 Black Watch Ave.  Oromocto, N.B.

Duties of The General Manager

Chief Executive Officer of MRDC overseeing the management of staff, equipment, materials, and hired or contracted resources of MRDC.
Responsible for the management of personnel, equipment, and all other assets of MRDC.
Authority to enter into contracts and make commitments on behalf of MRDC in accordance with an established Authority Grid.
Responsible for the day-to-day operations of MRDC.
Plan, co-ordinate and manage all work of MRDC to ensure safe operations that meet the requirements of the Operation, Management, Maintenance and Rehabilitation Agreement between MRDC and the Province of New Brunswick (New Brunswick Highway Corporation).
Key liaison between MRDC and the Province of New Brunswick.
Report to the Executive Committee on a regular and as required basis.
Attend Executive Committee meetings reporting on all key aspects of the operations of MRDC.
Manage direct reports which include safety, quality, maintenance, technical and financial.
Manage and perform public relations and media relations.

Experience

Ten years of progressive transportation management/ infrastructure management experience.
Experience in reporting to Boards of Directors/Executive Committees
Experience managing people and equipment.
Experience in public, media and government relations.
Excellent time management and organizational skills; must be results oriented and deadline driven
Ability to plan and manage projects. Strong management /leadership skills
Proven ability to build, energize and motivate individual team members to meet objectives
Strong cost accounting, financial acumen, budget preparation and long term financial projections.
Ability to analyse processes and recommend or change those processes requiring improvements.
Ability to go beyond the obvious and identify and create opportunities to improve current work processes and organizational performance.
Displays commitment to company goals, and can represent the organization in a professional manner.
Ability to be flexible, use sound judgment, tact, and initiative on a day-to-day basis.
Ability to consider appropriate alternative courses of action.​

Language/Communication Abilities

Oral and written competency in English
Oral and written competency in French would be an asset.
Delivery of functional and technical presentations
Required to read and understand technical information as it relates to the operation of the business. This includes quality system procedures and documents that relate directly to the General Manager position, including the ability to interface with both technical and non-technical personnel.

Education

Professional Engineer
Masters in Business Administration (preferred but not required)​
