Lab Manager – Enerchem International Inc – Slave Lake, AB

This role supervises two people and manages the day to day duties within the laboratory as well as developing and supervising quality control measures for new products and maintaining quality assurance on all production material.

Qualifications:

10 Years Laboratory Experience

Chemistry Degree or Equivalent

Managerial Experience (at least 5 years)

Good Communication Skills – Both Verbal and Written

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Be fluent and competent with aspects of fluid testing needs for Enerchem International Inc.
Jet fuel testing requirements in order to certify the fuel for sale that follows the standards set out by CAN-CGSB 3.23 (33 tests from distillation to freeze point to tag closed cup flash to MSEP etc.).
Cover off Enerchem’s quality control testing for all finished products on a daily basis for our Fracsol, Waxsol, and Drillsol; as well as daily GC 30 analyses.
Participate in the MOC and Quality Assurance Program at the Slave Lake facility and possibly manage this program from start to finish. The program will be audited internally on a semi-annual basis to ensure it is functioning properly.
Be fluent in the calibration and ongoing maintenance of a GC 30 machine.
Monitoring all costs associated with lab materials consumed such as but not limited to: glass ware, PPE and gases consumed, etc. It is expected that the successful candidate will ensure we are getting the best prices possible.
Source out lab equipment and pricing and maintenance contracts on lab equipment to perform all tests required.
Be fluent in ASTM methods required for the extensive testing requirements we need to meet.
Ensure lab is clean and tidy, functional and reliable.
Achieve certified lab status for future needs.
Ensure that lab operations support Enerchem’s goal of becoming 9001 compliant for the purpose of selling kerosene and jet fuel into other markets.
It is expected that the candidate will need to certify our lab results against 3rd party lab tests periodically.
Perform and set up in partnership with our sales and field operations team the flow back recycling testing to be performed when required viscosity and blends with new frac and recycled flow back including flash and RVP testing.
As Enerchem is focusing on new markets and areas for expansion with it facilities there will be a need for other testing requirements as we grow and change.As these changes come it is expected that the candidate will need to be able to be confident in doing any testing required for these changes.Education and understanding the test requirements will be important for the future of Enerchem. And its product lines.
You will be responsible for training any staff members on using the lab equipment properly.
