Part Time Life Skills Worker – Community Integration Services Society – North Vancouver

Community Integration Services Society (CISS) has Part-Time Life Skills Worker position available at their North Vancouver location.

The program operates during the day on Monday and Thursday between the hours of 8:00 am to 2:30 pm (closed all evenings, weekends & statutory holidays).Applicants can pick up additional casual shifts both in North Vancouver and Port Coquitlam if desired. Life Skills Worker must be skilled in supporting a wide variety of clients including those with behavioural support needs and mobility challenges (must be able to push/lift wheelchair or other mobility device) multiple days per week.
Must be able to support people with limited verbal communication with alternate communication.
Program development skills including employment will be crucial.
Will be expected to participate in all program activities, including skating, swimming, etc.
Will be required to support all IDS-North Vancouver clients including travel to and from and supporting in North Vancouver.
Will provide personal care support as needed.
Must be confident developing and implementing new programs.
Ability to establish goals, with measurable outcomes aligning with the clients scheduled activities.
Individual will take on key client duties including quarterly and bi-annual reports.
Be able to maintain up to date and accurate consumer information (green file, medical information, contact information, blue binders, consumer profile cards etc.).
Ensure that log notes are maintained and kept up to date with relevant information.
Attend meetings with other professionals when required.
Clear written and verbal communication with the ability to write clear and concise daily log notes, summarized reports, critical incident reports and other relevant documentation providing pertinent information as required.
Be able to adapt and implement program activities on a daily basis or when needed

Qualifications include:

Related education
Work/volunteer experience
Ability to provide personal care
Knowledge of medical and aging issues
Current CPR/FA certificate
WHMIS certificate
Valid Class 5 driver’s license
Reliable vehicle that permits you to drive more than one passenger
Business insurance with 2 million liability
Computer skills and a good command of the English language.
Wage: $17.71/hr. + $.47/km for Society business.
