Project Development Officer – Genome Atlantic – Halifax City

Genomics provides in-depth knowledge of every living thing. These insights can lead to solutions for food production, sustainable energy and resource extraction, human disease, and healthy oceans and other natural habitat. Genome Atlantic is a not-for-profit corporation with a mission to help Atlantic Canada reap the economic and social benefits of genomics and associated technologies. Since our inception in 2000, we have worked with a range of partners to enable over $70 million in applied genomics R&D in the region. We are currently recruiting for the following position based in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Reporting to the Director, Business Development, the Project Development Officer will support the management of Genome Atlantic’s project portfolio and the development of new initiatives, including the formation of research teams and funding proposal development. You are a flexible and open-minded team player with a customer-service outlook and a passion for contributing to organizational targets. Equally comfortable with both strategic and tactical issues, you will provide support to the project managers and research teams for the duration of their projects, collaborating on solutions for everything from scientific issues and reporting requirements to regulatory and personnel challenges. You will also spearhead engagement between project teams and industry to ensure current and future research is aligned with commercial priorities.

You understand the dynamic nature of applied research and are committed to making both current and future pursuits highly successful. Your background includes a mix of hands-on research, program management and proposal development experience. This position requires at least three years of relevant experience and an M.Sc. or Ph.D. from a life sciences discipline. Candidates with an MBA or PMP designation with relevant experience will also be considered.
