Sr. Development Engineer – Ping Identity Corp – Halifax City

Ping Identity is expanding our downtown Halifax software engineering team and is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer.

We’re working to solve some of the biggest problems that individuals and enterprises face as our digital lives move into the cloud. How do I access all the websites and resources I need securely? How do I manage all my employees’ credentials for SaaS applications? How do I integrate my business partners and customers into my internal systems?

To help solve these problems Ping works to integrate cutting edge technology from leading vendors into our award winning Identity Management and Single Sign On solution. We can seamlessly integrate enterprise applications, SaaS offerings, and social platforms from Google, Microsoft, Facebook, Salesforce.com, ServiceNow, Zendesk, and many others. And we’re just getting started!

What you’ll do:

Function as a solid individual contributor on a high-output agile development team.
Design and develop new features as well as maintain existing code, with well-documented comments and other supporting materials.
Communicate effectively with the distributed team.
Integrate with open source packages as needed to achieve functionality.
Actively support Software Quality Engineering team members in testing.
Stay on the forefront of knowledge in the industry, and share learnings with other team members and the company.
Create APIs and highly scalable microservices for a cloud-based identity management platform.

Essential Qualifications:

6+ years experience in a commercial, enterprise-level development environment.
Exceptional problem solving skills. Loves finding the best solution.
MUST: Experience working with open source and open source tools.
MUST: Expert knowledge of Java and practices in development.
Experience in / understanding of an agile, iterative, RUP or XP environments.
Experience in cloud-based architecture and API design.

Desired Qualifications:

Strong interpersonal communications skills.
Shows attention to details.
Ability to work in a lightweight process environment including requirements and test planning documentation.
Capable of high performance in a two-week iteration cadence with frequent product deliveries.
Self-motivated and works with minimal direction.
Takes ownership of tasks and executes.
Ability to learn quickly and independently in complex technical environment.
Experience with relational or nosql databases (MySQL, Cassandra).
Experience with asynchronous messaging (ActiveMQ, Kafka).
Experience with identity management (OAuth 2.0, Active Directory, LDAP, SCIM, user provisioning, etc.) is an asset.
Experience with cloud development tools (Git, Jenkins, Puppet, Docker, Vagrant, etc.).
