Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I – Resort Municipality of Whistler – Whistler, BC

The Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) of the Infrastructure Services division has an opportunity for qualified individuals to apply for the position of WWTP Operator I. Reporting to the WWTP Supervisor, this position offers 76.5 hours bi-weekly starting immediately. The Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I will assist in the operation, monitoring, and general maintenance of the Wastewater Treatment Plant equipment and facilities in accordance with the BC Ministry of Environment Regulations.

Qualified candidates will have a grade 12 diploma; completed a Water Engineering or Environmental Technology program; a valid EOCP Wastewater Operator Level I certificate; and 1-2 years of related work experience in an operational environment. Candidates must have considerable knowledge of routine WWTP operations, procedures and methods used, as well as sound knowledge of the maintenance and repair of facility equipment.

The successful candidate will also demonstrate that they possess strong communication skills and are a dynamic team player.

A valid EOCP Wastewater Operator Level I certificate and a valid BC Class 5 Driver’s license are requirements of the position.

This position works 76.5 hours biweekly at a rate of $29.77 per hour. Employees at the WWTP shall normally work a schedule consisting of nine days of work in a fourteen day period. Each day of work shall be 8.5 hours exclusive of a one-half (1/2) hour lunch period from 7:30am to 4:30pm.
