Permanent Labour Relations Officer (LRO) – Registered Nurses’ Union of Newfoundland and Labrador – St. John’s

RNU is seeking a dynamic professional to fill a permanent Labour Relations Officer (LRO) position. The successful candidate will work with a team of LROs that report to the Executive Director and will interact with unionized registered nurses for a designated service area. Primary duties include responding to member inquiries to provide advice and interpretation of collective agreements; coordinating member requirements for human rights-related accommodations, workers compensation or other needs; responding to employers’ representatives; and, representing the union at employer, industry or labour-related meetings and/ or boards. The ideal candidate has completed a Bachelor’s degree program, specializing in employee relations, labour relations, or law and has two years related experience working in an advocacy/union environment applying the terms of a collective agreement. An equivalent combination of training and related experience will be considered; registered nurses with extensive union experience are encouraged to apply. Two or more years’ experience presenting at mediations, dispute resolution and/or hearings before administrative tribunals is an asset. The candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with solid organizational and time management capabilities. Applicants should be familiar working with MS Office applications in a Windows-based network environment. Ability to travel is a must.
