The Village
Nakusp is a vibrant community of approximately 1600 residents and it services an additional 5000 from surrounding communities. The Village offers amenities of a much larger centre. Located on the shores of the Upper Arrow Lakes, Nakusp is surrounded by spectacular mountains, clear lakes and rivers, and breathtaking scenery. In addition to the municipal services offered, the Village also wholly owns and operates the Nakusp Hot Springs. Over the past few years, the Village has heavily invested in its infrastructure and has recently commissioned a water treatment plant, wastewater treatment plant, a micro hydro generation plant and a dramatic footbridge at the Hot Springs.

The Opportunity
Nakusp has an exciting opportunity for a Chief Administrative Officer. Responsible for the direct overall planning, coordination and control of the activities and business affairs of the Village, the CAO will lead staff in the fulfillment of all duties related to the Village’s operations. The CAO will provide effective advice and support to the Mayor and Council in developing and implementing policies and strategies that address the economic, social and environmental needs of the Village.

With a renewed focus on economic development, the CAO will provide leadership to the Village and its staff through change, bringing fresh ideas to the table in order to create an administrative culture of innovation and best practises to successfully position Nakusp for long-term growth and sustainability.

The Right Candidate
As the ideal candidate, you are an accomplished local government leader with a combination of education and experience in providing effective customer service in a small municipality. You are known for your strong management and interpersonal skills and can creatively resolve issues. You believe in the value of public participation and have a proven ability to develop positive working relationships with elected officials and employees. As well, you have considerable experience working with a wide range of external stakeholders to implement new initiatives.
