Coordinator, Community Sustainability Programs (CP10001) – EnviroCentre – Ottawa, Ontario

Salary Range: $34,400 – $48,000 yr. (pro-rated salary for 4 days a week)
Position Type: Contract, One (1) year, Four (4) days per week
Reports to: Manager, Community Sustainability Programs

Summary

EnviroCentre is an Ottawa-based, non-profit organization that helps residents, businesses and organizations conserve energy and reduce their impact on the environment, while saving money. We have an immediate need for a full time Program Coordinator (one (1) year contract) who enjoys working as part of a team on local projects and campaigns related to sustainable transportation and community sustainability.

Overview of the position

This position will provide the successful candidate the opportunity to:

Develop skills in the areas of public engagement and community outreach.
Develop and apply strong project coordination and organizational skills.
Act as a liaison between EnviroCentre, businesses, partners and community groups.
Participate in local events and act as an ambassador of EnviroCentre.
Have an impact on the sustainability of our communities and city.

Job Duties

Preparing project proposals, schedules and reports.
Overseeing project budgets, financial tracking and preparing invoices.
Liaising with community partners, clients and stakeholders.
Identifying new business opportunities and participating in contract acquisition.
Tracking program participation, deliverables and activities.
Coordinating contract deliverables including delegating tasks to program assistant and volunteers as needed.
Coordinating and overseeing program related outreach and promotion, as required for active contracts.
Overseeing the development of program promotional materials and resources for web, print, and social media. This includes overseeing subcontracted work as needed.
Participating in program events and outreach initiatives.
Conducting research and staying abreast on topics related to community sustainability and sustainable transportation.
Monitoring transportation issues in the media, including social media, and participating in relevant public meetings held by the City of Ottawa or special interest groups.
Assisting with the boutique when needed.
Participating in internal EnviroCentre committees which support the organization.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned from time to time as deemed necessary.

Requirements (skills and experience)

Post-secondary education in a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
A minimum of five (5) years related professional experience.
Knowledge of municipal and provincial transportation related issues.
Knowledge of community sustainability initiatives, particularly in the Ottawa region.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in a professional context.
Marketing and communications experience an asset.
Experience in event planning a strong asset.
Able to communicate ideas and recommendations to staff, partners and community stakeholders/members.
Excellent time management skills.
Self-starter, who works well individually and in a team environment.
Experience with Word, Excel, and Power Point, essential.
Knowledge of InDesign and Photoshop, an asset.
Bilingualism a strong asset

Working Conditions

Busy office environment.
Sitting for long periods of time.
Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
Ability to physically move material/equipment and set up at events.
Overtime as required.
Some weekend and evening work will be required.
Ability to ride a bike required.
Driver’s license, an asset.
