Executive Director – Recreation Facilities Association of British Columbia – Victoria, BC

The Recreation Facilities Association of British Columbia (RFABC) is seeking a contract Executive Director to support the dynamic growth of our Association.

The Recreation Facilities Association of British Columbia (RFABC), is a not-for-profit member based, volunteer driven organization, and has been providing its recreation facility operation expertise to individuals and municipalities throughout the province since 1948.

The role of the RFABC is to promote universal interest, educational training, sound operating standards, professionalism and mentoring among all recreation facility providers, both public and private.  The main focus of the RFABC is the successful operation of all categories of recreation facilities and other facilities that satisfy the diverse activity needs of communities in British Columbia.

Working closely with the Executive, the Executive Director will direct the overall planning, coordination, and control of all deliverables as outlined by the Executive according to deadlines and within budget.

Statement of Qualifications:

Education

University or college graduation in Leisure Studies and/or Business Administration

Experience

7-10 years progressively responsible management experience in the parks and recreation field
Experience working with volunteer non-profit board members
Proven track record developing/overseeing operating/capital budgets, event planning, media advertising sales and development of public and private stakeholder partnerships
Monitors the professional development and advocacy needs of the membership and recommends short and long term strategic planning initiatives.
Develops and maintains a membership communication strategy including publication of a quarterly magazine, monthly emails and social media.
Development of operational policy and procedures.

Skills & Abilities

Excellent interpersonal, communication, leadership and team building skills in dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to take a lead role in Association strategic planning initiatives

This is an opportunity for a self- employed independent contractor.  In order for applicant to be considered for this position their resume must clearly demonstrate they have the following:
