Job Title: Fabrication Projects Manager
Job Location: Miramichi – Fabrication Division
Reports to: Plant Manager

Purpose
The Projects Manager is the primary point-person responsible for planning, executing, and delivering welding and fabricating projects on time, within budget, and in accordance to specifications. To achieve these important goals, the Projects Manager will define welding and fabricating project requirements and scope, and supervise the efforts of team members. Completion of welding and fabricating projects, effective quality control, communication of workers, and upward reporting to senior management are critical tasks to successfully performing in the role of Project Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the lifecycles of various companies’ projects from start-up through to completion
Ensure all potential efficiencies and cost reductions are implemented
Establish a project plan for each approved project, defining the projects goals, objectives, risks, assumptions, roles and responsibilities, work breakdown structure, milestones, and deliverables
Manage project activities throughout lifecycle, including the allocation of adequate resources, scheduling, documentation, budget, and other factors necessary for success
Work alongside Planner/Scheduler to plan all project timelines, milestones and deliverables using the appropriate software tools and/or project management methods
Organize project teams into suitable workgroups and guide the teams throughout their efforts to produce deliverables according to specification
Negotiate with other business units to obtain required skill sets
Establish and deliver mechanisms for tracking project progress and reporting to management through formal communications plan
Conduct meetings and forums in order to solicit feedback, input, and expectations; incorporate these into project plans
Establish, implement, and follow a formal change management program when required
Reallocate resources across multiple projects where necessary; identify and resolve any resource allocation discrepancies
Adhere to established methodologies for project management
Produce regular reports (status, escalations, etc.) on the progress of projects; deliver these reports during regular company meetings
Track all project costs to ensure completion within budget; procure extra budget funding where necessary
Closely monitor the efforts and billing of third-party workers, such as consultants, contractors, and other specialists
Identify and resolve conflicts within project teams and associate work; create contingency plans to mitigate risk
Manage project dependencies
Any other duties are required

Qualifications

Demonstrated success in project delivery and execution of project management methods
Highly effective negotiation, diplomatic, and conflict resolutions skills
Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field
Demonstrated experience in project management in the welding and fabricating field
Superb creation and facilitation of meetings, feedback sessions, and briefings in order to ensure projects are completed on time
Ability to effectively communicate with all types of staff, including technical, professional, and upper management
Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills
Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
Flexibility to adjust to shifting priorities and deadlines
Persuasive and motivating, with strong interpersonal skills
PMP Designation considered an asset
