Infrastructure and Operations Director – Town of Okotoks

As a member of the Strategic Leadership Team you effectively lead the Infrastructure & Operations Division, providing leadership and direction for the Corporation, and provides policy recommendations and advice to Council, particularly related to operational matters. This position articulates and implements long range strategies for the Division, oversees Transportation (street and roads maintenance and fleet management), Parks, Waste Services, and Facilities Maintenance business centres. This role also has overall responsibility for managing the water and wastewater contract. The Director initiates and oversees the management of Operations capital projects, and for fostering excellent working relationships/partnerships to achieve common goals for the community.

A Master’s Degree in a related field such as environmental sciences, environmental engineering is preferred, plus 10 years directly related experience in management roles, including supervisory experience in an operations related management position. An equivalent combination of a related degree and extensive public works experience at a management level may also be considered. Extensive experience with water and wastewater management is preferred. Proven leadership, people management and coaching skills are required, as well as above average project management, analytical ability and negotiation skills. Excellent public relations, verbal and written communication skills, and a strong understanding of public works practices will ensure your success in this role.
