The City of Kimberley is seeking a motivated individual for the position of Manager of Parks & Facilities. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Manager of Parks & Facilities is responsible for planning, directing, supervising and coordinating the operations and use of all City facilities, and all employed and voluntary staff engaged in operating these facilities. The Manager will also recommend, develop and schedule programs of sport and recreation for a variety of activities, and seek growth in bookings of City facilities through promotion and marketing of new sports, recreational and cultural events. The successful candidate will be in charge of inspecting facilities, equipment and program activities for safety and report on, or take steps to correct, unsafe physical or program conditions. S/He will also requisition or purchase materials and supplies, supervise housekeeping and storage and recommend for disposal surplus, worn or obsolete equipment, and ensure that all employees follow safe working practices.

The Manager will be expected to present and interpret to Council, government officials, representatives or organizations and the public the needs and objectives of the public recreation system; develop and recommend long-range and short-range plans, programs and policies to accomplish approved objectives and assist in the preparation of the annual operating and capital budgets. S/He will also keep thoroughly informed of City rules and regulations and provisions of the collective agreement; and maintains relationships in accordance with City personnel policies and provisions of the collective agreement.

Qualifications:
Candidates will have completed a post-secondary program in Recreation Facility Management, and be knowledgeable of the occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to ice rinks, swimming pools and other recreation and cultural facilities.

Required: Valid Power Engineers Certificate with a Refrigeration Endorsement, Swimming Pool Operators Certificate, Class 5 BC driver’s license,

Preference given to candidates who have a minimum of 5 years of increasingly responsible experience in facilities management and preventative maintenance programs, preferably in a local or regional government setting. Experience with preventative maintenance software would be considered an asset.
