Special Events and Volunteer Coordinator – City of Pitt Meadows

The City of Pitt Meadows is seeking a Special Events and Volunteer Coordinator to provide specialized arts and cultural services work in planning, developing, implementing and coordinating a variety of community special events and festivals for the City. This position will also be responsible for coordinating the City’s volunteer program and fostering a culture of volunteerism.

Reporting to the Senior Arts and Cultural Services Coordinator, this position will identify potential special events and projects, review feasibility, develop proposals and detailed plans and schedules, and coordinate execution. The incumbent will be responsible for soliciting corporate funding and preparing grant funding proposals while exercising considerable initiative and independent action. This position will require strong administrative and interpersonal skills and the ability to recruit, train, supervise, oversee and provide leadership to volunteers.

The successful candidate will have a relevant post-secondary degree in arts, cultural services, special events or volunteer management, plus considerable related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Related experience includes experience planning, developing, implementing and coordinating special events and festivals, coordinating volunteer programs, as well as experience monitoring budgets, supervising, and working effectively with multiple stakeholders. A B.C Driver’s license, St. John’s First Aid certificate (or equivalent) and CPR Level “A” Certificate is required. Experience with filming and municipal environments is considered an asset.

Required to work various shifts, Monday through Sunday, 5:45am – 10:15pm.
