(Permanent, Full-time)
Parkland County has a Permanent, Full-time position available for a Supervisor, Development Planning.  Reporting to the Manager, Planning & Development Services, the Supervisor, Development Planning oversees the planning functions pertaining to the development process, renders decisions on complex Development Permit applications, oversees amendments to Statutory Plans and the Land Use Bylaw, legal matters pertaining to Land Use Bylaw enforcement, Stop Orders, and presentations to boards and commissions related to the approval and appeal processes.  This position also supervises development planning staff and provides support to the Manager on a range of planning projects, issues and applications.   This position requires an exceptional working knowledge of the Municipal Government Act and the Subdivision and Development Regulation, and a sound understanding of planning law.

Qualifications:

Post-secondary degree in Planning or a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to Development Planning with increased degree of responsibility.
Five (5) years’ experience in a municipal planning environment.
Previous supervisory experience.
Membership in the Alberta Development Officer Association; or Canadian Institute of Planners, or registration as a Registered Professional Planner is an asset.
Strong writing, presentation, negotiations and organizational skills.
Superior Interpersonal skills in dealing effectively with the general public on sensitive matters and good analytical and problem solving skills.
Capable of working within tight deadlines with consistent heavy workloads on an ongoing basis.
Well-developed computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Rate of Pay:
$103,959 – $129,954 per annum

Hours of Work:
7 hours/day; 35 hours/week
