Corporate Biologist – Cooke Aquaculture – Blacks Harbour, New Brunswick

Cooke Aquaculture Inc., a dynamic and growing east coast family company is seeking a results orientated, detailed individual to join our Company in the leadership position of Corporate Biologist for the company’s conservation projects and partnerships.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Recommend, design, obtain approval for and implement conservation programs that align with the Company’s mission and values;
Represent the company on project steering committees in a manner that reflects the Company’s corporate values;
Liaise with Company managers and crew to ensure the project objectives are achieved to the highest standard;
Liaise with project partners and relevant government agencies to ensure the Company’s objectives are understood and observed;
Participate in field programs to conduct, and direct research activities as defined by the project steering committee;
Ensure that statistical analyses and fieldwork is conducted according to agreed upon objectives;
Prepare reports on research results and present recommendations to Company management.

Research and analytical skills (data collection, compilation and analysis);
Problem solving skills (analyze a case or situation and recommending solution(s));
Excellent communication (verbal and written – technical or scientific writing);
Interpersonal skills – developing partnerships/networks with other stakeholders;
Intermediate computer skills (MS Office).

Education and/or Experience:

Must have a diploma, B.Sc. or higher degree in biological sciences and appropriate qualifications for work in Atlantic Canada;
Minimum 3 years experience or combination of experience/education;
Be able to demonstrate a passion for conservation and an understanding of sound business and management principles;
Have experience operating in a dynamic consulting environment that requires flexibility and teamwork; and an ability/interest to work in the field, occasionally in remote locations.
