Community Grant and Resarch Coordinator – City of Chestermere

Job Description:

The City is currently seeking a full-time Community Grant and Research Coordinator to join our Community Services Team. The Community Grant and Research Coordinator participates in building interdependent teams that work to achieve their objectives and, in collaboration with other departments, the overall vision of the City of Chestermere within the context of the Strategic Initiatives contained within the rolling 3 year Strategic Plan.

Main responsibilities:
Provide professional expertise in the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of:
Researching and reporting of government funding opportunities, e.g., prepare and assist staff in preparing funding proposals and pitches; ensure that the City has accessed all the funding that is available to municipalities; present fund proposals and budgets to senior management.
Sourcing and coordinating private grants (e.g. corporate and private foundations)identify and articulate current and potential funder stipulations and requirements,funding opportunities, and partnerships;
Providing strategic direction to City fundraising efforts (e.g. Christmas With Dignity)
Enhancing the visibility of the City and its “competitive edge”, by being aware of awards that recognize community leadership and achievement and working with City staff, committees and community organizations to prepare nominations.
Coordinate and create meaningful acknowledgement, stewardship and recognition of all funders,Identifying and coordinating sponsorship opportunities for City-operated events.
Creating compelling stewardship and impact reports that clearly and effectively articulate the impact that the corporation/individuals contribution has made.
Executing communication that grabs attention, builds conviction, stirs interest and compels the intended audience to support City initiatives.
Undertake research and coordinate activities in support of specific parks and recreation studies, project proposals, management plans, MOU’s, and community partnership building opportunities which will ultimately result in expanded community services or reduces the bottom line costs for the City.
Coordinate various evaluation processes such as online surveys and public engagement processes as a means to better understanding community needs, viewpoints and issues.
Participate in the enhancement and implementation of City and Department Policies and Procedures within legislative, regulatory requirements and best practices.
Participate as a member of the Chestermere Emergency Response team in preparing and enabling the community to respond in the event of a local disaster or regional disaster.

Consideration will be given to candidates who possess:
University Degree in Communications, Business Administration, Political Science, Public Relations or a related discipline.
Minimum of 3 years of work experience as a Grant Writer/ Consultant/Researcher.
3 years of related and progressive experience building effective working relationships with multiple stakeholders, government, community, and business.
Clear Criminal Record Check deemed satisfactory by the City.
Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License and a Driver’s Abstract deemed satisfactory by the City.
Vehicle maintained and suitable for travel throughout the region.
Maintain valid Standard First Aid CPR C and AED certifications
Experience writing proposals or grant applications at the $100,000 level and above
Superior expertise in standard writing and editing skills including English grammar, punctuation and syntax
Superior interpersonal relationship-building skills
Excellent technical/analytical skills and attention to detail
Solid grasp of business communication, with the ability to write letters of inquiry, reports, business plans, and discussion papers
Understanding of research processes, with a demonstrated ability to manage for results and set and establish new standards of success
Strong work ethic and highly motivated, e.g., ability to work in a fast paced environment and respond to action requests and competing deadlines in a timely matter.
Proficiency with MS Office, e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
