Communications Officer – Office of the Auditor General / Bureau du vérificateur général – Fredericton

The Auditor General of New Brunswick (AGNB) is seeking one candidate to join the AGNB team as a Communications Officer working in our Fredericton office. We are looking for a highly motivated and energetic communications professional who can write, plan and think in a fast-paced environment. As a member of the AGNB team, you may be assigned to any number of communications and/or related duties as required by the Auditor General.

The Communications Officer will play a key role in the planning, development and implementation of various communications and media relations activities and initiatives in support of AGNBs mandate and strategic plan.  Specific duties include writing, proofing and editing communications materials, facilitating AG report production, verifying document translation, developing and editing website content, planning and arranging events, preparing and setting up presentations and coordinating media relations.

The successful candidate will possess superior writing and editing skills, as well as familiarity with a broad range of communications tools and media, and the expertise to develop and implement innovative and creative communications solutions with limited resources. Candidates must have a focus for accuracy and detail as well as good coordination and planning skills resulting in value-added communications services.  The ability to work independently, to be part of a professional team, and to manage multiple priorities, including certain administrative duties on occasion, is required.

Essential Qualifications:

Candidates should have post-secondary degree in communications, public relations, journalism or related field with a minimum of two years of related work experience. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Superior written and oral competence in French and English is required.

Annual Salary:  $46,540 – $74,360 – Pay Band 4 or 5, Management and Non-Union Pay Plan.

A writing sample and/or case examination, as well as language proficiency testing may be required as part of the interview process. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a criminal history clearance prior to appointment. This competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level.
