IT Infrastructure Project Manager – Teamrecruiter.Com – Toronto Downtown, ON

One of our Semi-Government Agency client is looking for: IT Infrastructure Project Manager
Duration: 12 Months contract with possible extension

Responsibilities:

Run complex projects/programs from design and development to production while adhering to established project/testing methodologies and methods.
Manage day to day operational aspects of projects to ensure adherence to scope, conferring with project staff to outline the work breakdown schedule (WBS), assigning duties, responsibilities and scope of authority, directing and coordinating activities of project personnel, modifying schedules or plans as required and effectively applying and enforcing acceptable project methodology.
Manage all IT project scope, deliverables, goals and milestones including reviewing and signing off on all IT documentation.
Participate in defining business and technical requirements and support the business through this process by consulting with stakeholders through the process and using information provided in order to meet business needs.
Maintain and update technical and project documentation as well as maintain a clear and concise documented process for the implementation and integration of projects.
Prepare weekly project status reports and keep management and other stakeholders informed of project status and other related issues on a regular and timely basis.
Create and manage an integrated project plan and all project schedules and reports.
Responsible for IT project risk and issue identification, documentation and mitigation of potential implementation issues and develop mitigation and resolution strategies to minimize impacts to project needs/outcomes.
Conduct cost-benefit analyses and ROI calculations to determine project feasibility. Develop and oversee project budgets as well as forecast budget changes and communicate planned versus actual budget during the project lifecycle in order to ensure that financial targets are met and/or adjusted accordingly.
Conduct and participate in project retrospectives/lessons learned as required.
Lead the development and implementation of project performance measures, indicators, benchmarks and guidelines to ensure project resources are used appropriately and the achievement of quality assurance standards.
Participate in the project procurement process i.e. Request for Proposals (RFP), Request for Quote (RFQ) etc. for external services as required.
Acting as a corporate liaison and providing presentation to the executive team, holding and facilitating regular status meeting with project teams.
Support planning and management of the unit which include: annual planning of unit projects and priorities, ensuring branch is adequately and competently staffed, identifying resource requirements, conducting the hiring process, identifying and recommending department changes to the BTS Managers/Director, allocating work and developing performance objectives for the unit.
Perform other duties as assigned or required.

MUST HAVES

Post-secondary degree in engineering or a technology related field with Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
Minimum of 5–10 years of IT Project Management or IT Management, IT project scheduling and budgeting experience and experience in coordinating and supporting IT and Testing processes, IT and ITIL experience and a strong working knowledge of the entire project management life cycle.
Project management skills with a solid understanding of project management methodologies in order to effectively manage small, medium and large scale technology projects for several clients in parallel, budget, develop project schedules, identify resource requirements, establish deadlines, provide advice and direction to external resources, track project schedules and provide status reports.
Conceptual and analytical skills to assess and evaluate needs and cost/benefit analysis for new technology requirements, in planning and designing solutions.
Knowledge of complex IT system development and design methodologies and processes.
Excellent written and oral communication skills to develop and present various project documentation including business cases, briefing notes, action plans, executive summaries, technical reports etc.
Prioritizing work to manage a very high volume of day-to-day activities and balance their demands against longer-term work and commitments.
Professional interpersonal skills, including proven negotiation, consulting, customer-service abilities
Superior relationship management, teamwork skills to engage, motivate and manage multi-disciplinary teams.
Provincial Offences Act, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, Federal Privacy Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Income Tax Act, programs and program performance and measures, and relevant changes in legislation in order to provide expert opinion and advice to management on future project work, analysis and program initiatives.
