King Hoe Excavating Ltd. offers a dynamic, fast-paced work environment where teamwork is highly valued.  We are looking for a Manager of Finance with an enthusiastic, positive attitude to join our team.

Reporting to the President and Director of the company, this position is responsible for the application of GAAP principles with all aspects of the accounting functions (of King Hoe Excavating Ltd. and its related companies), month-end close procedures and preparing monthly financial reports.  This position is also responsible for managing the Accounting & Administrative team, and providing ongoing recommendations and maintenance of a system of internal controls, and improved procedures to support company growth.

Office hours:  8am – 4pm, with overtime as needed

Detailed Responsibilities

Develop & maintain a strong system accounting policies with emphasis on internal controls.  Goals are to support company growth on an ongoing basis, and improve the accuracy, completeness & usability of reported financial results.
Manage Accounting & Administrative department, with a strong emphasis on leadership and the ability to form & develop a positive and effective team.
Oversee all accounting functions, including but not limited to:
Prepare month-end financial reports on time, including compliance with debt covenants
Ensure reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis
Coordinate with banks, debtors & bonding company for annual reviews
Coordinate with external auditors for annual review of King Hoe Excavating Ltd., and for NTR engagements of related corporations
Comply with government reporting & tax filing requirements
Ensure accurate & complete job costing
Prepare work-in-process analysis and adjustments as needed
Ensuring payables & receivables are paid/collected in a timely manner
Process bi-weekly payroll
Provide financial analysis as needed
Implementation of a recent construction accounting/ERP system requires someone comfortable to learn a new system inside-out, lead the implementation of new modules as needed, and train staff & project managers on functionality
Work on special projects as needed

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration, or equivalent business experience
3+ years of progressive accounting & management experience in a fast-paced environment (construction industry and/or experience in a mid-large private company or a multi-company environment is an asset)
Preference will be given to CA, CMA & CGA accounting designations
Excellent interpersonal skills
Strong organizational skills with the ability to stay calm under pressure, prioritize duties & meet deadlines
Strong computer skills (MS Office and particularly excel) and confidence in learning an advanced construction accounting software program
