Senior Airport Planner – Arup – Toronto, ON

We are seeking an experienced Senior Airport Planner to join the Aviation Planning group in our Toronto office. There is potential for future relocation within North America to support and lead our growing business.

Responsibilities:

Leading project teams and providing technical leadership and input to projects aligned with your specific technical experience and expertise.
Interfacing with and presenting to clients and project stakeholders
Develop, elaborate, and evaluate planning conceptual alternatives for major elements of airport infrastructure including airfield, passenger terminal, cargo, landside access.
Mentoring more junior planners to develop their skills and capabilities.
Working with Aviation Planning team leadership to manage and allocate resources.
Inputting to and occasionally leading responses to RFPs including schedule, scope and fee assessments.
Working with the global Aviation Planning group and local Transportation Planning group to augment and refine custom in-house analytical tools, and/or develop new tools and planning approaches.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred, in Architecture or Transport Planning.
A minimum of 10 years’ experience in aviation related planning, design, operations or a related field and a desire to build a long term aviation planning and consulting career.
Professional experience and awareness of today’s aviation industry, including the planning, design, construction, financing, operation, and regulation of airports.
Knowledge of and experience delivering planning work to meet international policies, regulations, and airport planning standards is required. (ICAO / IATA, other country-specific).

Desirable aviation related consultant experience also includes:

Leading and/or project managing aviation planning or design teams.
Airport and airline client facing roles developing strong working relationships.
Detailed experience in the planning or design of terminals, aprons, airfields, supporting facilities, and/or ground access for both new and existing airports.
Airport related capacity/demand analysis, master-planning, feasibility studies, stakeholder engagement experience with various analytical methods and tools including simulation platforms.
Strong capability to work in CAD and graphics platforms.
Managing commercial aspects of projects.
Verbal and written fluency in English is essential. Command of one or more other languages is highly desirable.

Permanent, full-time position

Salary: CAD$85000 – $110000 annually
