Circle Education Program Assistant – SPEC – Society Promoting Environmental Conservation – Vancouver BC

Description:
The Program Assistant will support SPEC’s Elders Circle team with planning, communications and launching of the second year of the Claiming our Role as Elders Program. The program engages with seniors, including newcomers to Canada, to help them build a legacy and get more actively involved in their community. The Program Assistant will work with a number of volunteers and staff throughout the organization.
Location: The Program Assistant is welcome to work in the SPEC office at any time. However, this position will be considered primarily a remote work-from-home role, with possible exceptions for in-person attendance at SPEC events in the Metro Vancouver area.

Role Responsibilities:
The Education Program Assistant will report to SPEC’s Claiming Our Role as Elders – Program Manager and liaise with program stakeholders to:
Participating in the team planning meetings.
Update the program’s website.
Promote the program on social media and through partner organizations.
Promote and lead the management of events.
Build relationships with partner organizations and potential participants.

Qualifications:
Background or knowledge/experience in senior community organization, environmental stewardship, climate change and/or climate justice.
Strong time management and organization skills, with attention to detail
Excellent English language communication skills (oral and written).
Excellent computer literacy and the ability to learn new platforms quickly.
Flexible schedule, Monday to Friday.
