Climate Change Solutions Research Assistant – Centre for Climate Change Management at Mohawk College

JOB SUMMARY:
The Centre for Climate Change Management (CCCM) at Mohawk College is an applied research centre. Our mission is to catalyze regional action on climate change and support the development of applied climate change mitigation strategies and initiatives.
Reporting to the General Manager, the Research Assistant will complete research and stakeholder outreach to assist the Centre in its current climate-related projects, including supporting municipal home energy efficiency program development, consulting on local industrial greenhouse gas emissions reduction solutions, and supporting the development and implementation of new projects.
The incumbent should have strong research skills, an ability to work independently, as well as a strong interest in areas such as sustainability, climate change, carbon management, sustainable supply chain management, program development, or municipal climate action.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The duties of this position will include, but are not limited to the following:
Assisting in researching, summarizing, and presenting research data
Ensuring efficient and proper handling of research data
Assisting in report writing and data tracking, as needed
Supporting stakeholder outreach activities, such as identifying potential stakeholders and planning meetings
Assisting with marketing and communications to effectively connect with key audiences and target populations

QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful applicant must have:
Experience in literature research and aggregation; strong report writing and editing skills are an asset
Strong Microsoft Office skills
Strong communication skills
Ability to work independently in a virtual working environment
Post-secondary education in environmental science, urban planning, sustainability, or a related field
Data analysis is an asset
Knowledge of sustainability principles
An understanding and commitment to the principles of equity, diversity and inclusivity
