Communications Coordinator – EcoSuperior

Key Areas of Responsibility
The Communications Coordinator is required to perform a range of duties including, but not limited to:

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist with updating and maintaining EcoSuperior’s social media presence and digital marketing, developing a marketing/content social media calendar, and brainstorm ideas for new and innovative campaigns.
Monitor social media and website analytics on a weekly/monthly basis, provide reports, and make recommendations to increase engagement.
Assist with managing monthly Walleye article and ad deliverables/ expectations
Create high-quality graphics and videos to reflect EcoSuperior’s brand ID
Use as a guide and review annually: Communications Plan for EcoSuperior, including key messages, and strategies, aligned with our mission, programs and EcoSuperior brand.
Draft, distribute and pitch news releases, media alerts and other stories to local and regional news outlets.
Liaise with all program coordinators, and Eco-staff team, to plan and/or design social media posts, posters, presentations, media launches, in a timely manner.
Assist with the design of flyers, graphics, e-vites, presentations, and other marketing material for major events hosted by EcoSuperior (using Canva, or other graphic design tools).
Assist with updating the website, aligned with our branding.
Assist with outreach to the community partners and organizations, public and funders, consistent with our mission to build a healthy future for people and the planet.
Collaborate with staff on new ideas, directions, and venues for marketing and communications.
Assist with planning and executing events and tradeshows.
Take photographs at EcoSuperior events, campaigns and programs, to be used in communications, promotions and reports.
Track and report on annual advertising and marketing budgets.
Assist with product/program and branding launch activities.
Actively ensure that the program, funders and EcoSuperior receive maximum positive exposure within the community or region.
General Admin support as required.
General Office Duties
Answer inquiries from the public specific to your area of expertise
Liaise and assist with other program coordinators especially where programs are complementary
Ensure that all communications files are stored, organized, updated and accessible on the office network
Assist with office maintenance, chores and customer service when required
Participate in staff meetings (Good Gatherings + Internal Eco-News)
Assist in preparation and staffing for special events
Adhere to organization policies and procedures
Other duties may be assigned as necessary

Qualifications & Competencies
Willing to embrace the Mission of EcoSuperior, and contribute to a healthy workplace and team dynamic
Excellent oral and written communication skills; strong speaking and presentation skills
Educational background or experiential knowledge in areas of communications, marketing, journalism, environmental issues, science, and/or education
Experience in managing a budget
Ability to work both independently and as part of a project team
Proficiency in the use of computer programs including Word, Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint, Canva
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, MailChimp, Monday.com an asset
Proficiency in the use of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter)
Knowledge on how to maintain and evolve consistent brand voice
The ability, openness, and willingness to amplify voices of the BIPOC communities to environmental outreach and education, experience in this area would be a strong asset
The ability to design and deliver education and outreach in French and/or Ojibwe would be a strong asset
Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Location:
Workplace location for this position is normally located at: 562 Red River Rd, Thunder Bay, Ontario. However, while respecting guidelines at all levels of government regarding health and safety with Covid-19, work may temporarily or periodically, take place off-site (remotely, at your own place of residence, in the Thunder Bay area.)
