Communications Coordinator – Public Relations – Sustainable Milton

We are looking for a Communications Manager that is interested in developing and implementing multi-media, web and social media content. Specific duties may include, but are not limited to:
Assisting in creating a communications strategy for engagement on sustainable initiatives;
Assisting with marketing and promotion of community-based programs and events;
Assisting in the development of outreach and engagement campaigns to support our membership drive and volunteer recruitment;
Assisting in managing and maintaining our membership database;
Assisting with program development projects including research as related to marketing and engagement;
Working with the Green Goals team to support local small business initiatives;
Support team members as required

Preferred knowledge and skills:
Experience conducting research;
Experience planning and organizing events, for volunteers, including youth, seniors and families, would be an asset;
Computer literate. Familiarity with Google Suite (Docs, Slides, Sheets), PowerPoint or Keynote, Canva, solid experience with social media platforms, e-newsletters and/or websites;
Digital competency, the ability to use digital technology to input, access, analyze, organize, create and communicate information and ideas using computers, software, email, podcasts, web applications, smart phones and other digital devices.
Experience creating social media content, creating and editing video and audio content for podcasts and webinars, would be an asset;
Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, to communicate tasks and interact with other people. Although working remotely, you will need to be able to coordinate tasks, share resources, plan, make decisions, negotiate, solve conflicts and complete other activities that may involve remote collaboration.
Interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively with different community stakeholders and diverse groups;
Good problem-solving skills and self-motivated, positive “can do” attitude is a must;
Basic or advanced knowledge in one or more of the following areas: environmental issues, climate change action (mitigation and adaptation), waste reduction, environmental stewardship, gardening, would be an asset;
Knowledge or experience within the Halton community, would be an asset.
