Pipelayer / Fitter I – District of Saanich

Working in the Storm and Wastewater Section of the Public Works Division, the successful candidates will be involved in heavy, continuous manual work of some complexity laying pipe to grade for sewer mains, storm drains, laterals and house connections of varied sizes and types.

Requirements include Grade 12 or equivalent; EOCP Operator in Training (O.I.T.) Certification for Wastewater Collection; minimum 1040 hours (6 months) related experience in a storm water/wastewater system/facility; possession of a valid Traffic Control Certificate, a valid Occupational First Aid Level 1 Certification and training in confined space entry. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. All successful candidates must have sufficient physical strength, stamina and coordination to permit performance of heavy manual work in all weather conditions and must work in close proximity or contact with raw sewage.
