Social Media & Marketing Assistant – Endeavour Centre

About the Role
The Social Media & Marketing Assistant will work with our core team to strategize and implement our social media and marketing approach for 2021 and beyond and to help us develop exciting and informative content for social media, our web site and specialty media outlets that will strengthen our messaging and help us to reach a wider audience. To achieve these goals, the Assistant will be a multi-tasker who is capable of seeing both “the big picture” and the key messaging details that build enthusiasm and understanding for our messaging.
The Assistant will be someone who knows how to work independently after close collaboration with the team to set goals and tasks and will be responsive to positive feedback and input from the team. As we build a relationship, your enthusiasm and insight will be put to work coordinating and executing a social media strategy as innovative as our educational programming.
Depending on your skills, there may be additional roles in app development, website development and/or online learning development.

Key Responsibilities
Work with our Executive Director to understand the scope of our current social media and marketing efforts
Work with our whole team to plan a thorough social media & marketing strategy for 2021
Work collaboratively with our whole team to develop, create and design appropriate content for release through suitable outlets
Work collaboratively to create and execute a social media release schedule
Produce regular status reports on the impact of social media releases and share the
information with appropriate team members
Work collaboratively to make adjustments, as required, to the content and release schedule
Share your experiences and help generate lessons learned
Continuously bring forward new ideas for delivering Endeavour’s messaging that
support our mission and values
If your skill set is appropriate, you may have a central role in our ongoing app development (a building materials carbon emissions calculator), website development (our Endeavour and Builders for Climate Action websites are both being revamped) and/or online learning development (we are building online versions of our most popular in-person workshops)

About You
You have demonstrable strengths in:
Planning/organization – You can create and implement action plans; document results, evaluate and learn from your experiences
Communication – You can write and communicate confidently, with a clear understanding of the needs of your audience
Design – You have a strong ability to organize visual communications that are engaging for your audience while maintaining identification with our established branding
Attention to detail – You are a thorough proof-reader, able to review materials before release and catch problems or inconsistencies
Adaptability – You are able to adjust to changing circumstance, priorities and conditions, while maintaining effectiveness and efficiency
Environmental and social awareness and responsibility – You understand a wide range of environment and social issues and the interrelationship between these. You are aware of the fundamental science of climate change and the wide-ranging impacts it is having and will come to have on our society, and our built environment in particular.

You have the following qualifications:
University or college degree/diploma (or equivalent professional experience) in social media, marketing, communications or related discipline
Some demonstrated experience in social media strategy and content development and delivery. This does not need to be professional experience.
Website development experience is an asset
App development experience is an asset
Online learning development experience is an asset
Familiarity with green building is an asset
Reporting Relationships
This position is supervised by our Executive Director.

Working Conditions
This position is based from Endeavour’s Peterborough location, however you do not need to live in Peterborough as most work will be completed independently from your home with regular online meetings with the Executive Director and team members. Preference will be given to applicants within a reasonable commuting distance of Peterborough for occasional in- person meetings. Office space in Peterborough may be available if required or preferred.
Your hours are flexible and will be guided by a project schedule that will be developed with you and the Executive Director to meet your needs and those of the organization.

Contract Details
This contract is dependent upon a grant from EcoCanada. This is a three-month, full-time contract at 30 hours per week. There is the potential for the contract to be extended to permanent, full-time.

The wage for this position is $22.50/hour.

Requirements for Eco-Canada grant
30 years of age or younger
Must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents or persons who have been granted refugee status in Canada.
Must be unemployed, underemployed or hold part-time employment.
