Utility/Public Works Operator – Village of Cache Creek – Cache Creek, BC

The Village of Cache Creek, a community of approximately 1,200, located in the interior of BC at the junction of Highways 1 and 97 offers an opportunity for a person with the right qualifications, skills and abilities to fill the position of a Utility/Public Works operator.

The successful candidate will have a Grade 12 education (or equivalent) with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in municipal or civil construction works.  The ability to perform a variety of tasks without supervision is a must.  A valid Class 5 Driver’s License, with experience operating backhoes, tractors and other equipment is required.  A minimum EOCP certification of WDI with water treatment plant experience is required.  Pool operation experience and chlorine handling certification would be an asset.

Reporting to the Public Works Foreman, the successful candidate will have duties that include general municipal operations including water and sewer distribution operation and maintenance, road maintenance, waste management, construction and general labourer duties.  The position also requires the employee to be on-call after normal working hours on a rotating basis amongst Public Works staff.

This is a permanent full-time union position, represented by the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 115. The current rate of compensation, upon successful completion of the probationary period, is $30.52 per hour dependent upon experience and qualifications.
