Job responsibilities include:
Develop and administer policies and procedures which guide the HCP’s volunteer programs and services;
Promote the HCP’s volunteer programs to the community to build awareness and recruit volunteers;
Identify HCP’s volunteer needs and develop effective volunteer recruitment plans and activities;
Monitor the effectiveness of the HCP’s volunteer programs including volunteer satisfaction;
Ensure volunteers are effectively oriented and trained in their duties at the HCP with a strong emphasis on volunteer safety;
Organize volunteer recognition and appreciation events and activities;
Maintain forms and records which document the volunteer activities;
Administer and monitor expenditures for the volunteer program against the approved budget;
Work with HCP staff to ensure Volunteers are enjoying their volunteer experience and are in the correct place to suit their skill set;
open the office (check lights and heat) and prepare till for the day
open the 2 front garden gates and classroom (if there is a workshop or class open washroom gate)
check voicemail and return calls/email messages to staff, check emails – forward to staff as necessary
check front desk communication binder, sanitize and tidy front area
brief the office volunteers on tasks for the day, i.e. fold pamphlets (extra if needed for upcoming events/tour groups)
generally be knowledgeable about the gardens, and greet customers enthusiastically
End of day – cash out, check lights, heat, lock up incl. all gates
Experience in volunteering and recruitment
Working knowledge of databases, Google Suite, Microsoft office.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organization and team-building skills.
A successful Volunteer Coordinator/Front Desk person should be meticulous about keeping records and passionate about volunteer work and people. You should uphold the values of our organization while ensuring the comfort of our volunteers in their positions.
Start date and training to begin as soon as possible. Wage is TBD.
Days are Monday-Wednesday 8:30am to 4:30pm.
