Advancement Officer – Memorial University of Newfoundland – St John’s

  Duties:
Reporting jointly to the Director of Athletics and the Assistant Director, Alumni Affairs, the successful applicant will develop, plan, and implement a strategic program of engagement and fundraising activities for Memorial University’s Athletics program.  This includes responsibility for a comprehensive alumni and friends annual fundraising program; establishing committees to support alumni programming with the goal of strengthening Memorial’s Athletics program; working with internal and external stakeholders including faculty members, staff and volunteers to support the planning and implementation of the program of activities;  ensuring effective fundraising, direct marketing and staff /volunteer management programs, practices and procedures; and working with the Marketing Coordinator to ensure effective electronic, print, and other communications.  The position may involve some local or regional travel as well as lifting and moving as part of event execution and other related duties as required.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have experience (3-5 years) in event development and execution and/or fundraising in an advancement-related, business development, sales or sponsorship field; graduation with a University degree; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. The ideal candidate will be creative, goal-focused, demonstrate exemplary judgment and initiative; and have proven strength in administration.  Strong interpersonal, networking, communication and time management skills are required.  The candidate must be proficient in working with databases as well as Microsoft Excel and Word.  Also required is the ability to build and maintain productive professional relationships, and to work both independently and within a team.  General knowledge of Memorial University, the Office of Alumni Affairs and Development and/or Memorial Sea-Hawks or the Athletics program as well as prior experience working with students or alumni, would be considered assets.

Salary: $55,482 – $75,653 per annum (Management and Professional)
