Description

A Network Administrator at pcit takes proactive steps to manage and optimize each customers IT infrastructure. This role is key in delivering a stabilized technology environment. The right candidate will have a combination of technical skills, business knowledge and communication capabilities that will assist customers and staff in their goals.

The right candidate should be comfortable working in a professional organization that is client focused. Work can include extended hours and occasional overnight travel.

The position is permanent and full time.

Position Duties and Requirements

Technical Capabilities

Maintain, troubleshoot and administer the use of local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), mainframe networks, computer workstations, connections to the Internet and peripheral equipment
Evaluate and install computer hardware, networking software, operating system software and software applications
Set up local area networks and connections to the Internet
Operate master consoles to monitor the performance of computer systems and networks and to co-ordinate access and use of computer networks
Provide problem-solving services to network users
Implement network traffic and security monitoring software, and optimize server performance
Perform routine network start up and close down and maintain control records
Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations
Conduct tests and perform security and quality controls
Control and monitor e-mail use, Web navigation, and installed softwares
Perform shell scripting or other basic scripting tasks
May supervise other workers in this group.

Formal Education, Certification or Experience

College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or 3+ years equivalent work experience.
Certifications in Microsoft Infrastructure preferred.
Certifications from Vendors such as VM Ware, Cisco an asset.

Salary & Benefits

This position is permanent and full time. Salary range $68,000-$78,000 plus extensive medical benefits and training allowance. Eligibility for bonus program after 1 year.
