Senior Protection and Controls Engineer – The Noramtec Group – St John’s

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) Degree or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

The applicant must be registered or eligible for licensure with  Professional Engineers and Geoscientists Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL)

RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
• Minimum 8-10 years of experience, in technical as well as construction roles.
• Background in protection & controls engineering and design.
• Electric utility experience, particularly in the area of high voltage substations, is a definite asset.
• Familiarity with codes and standards applicable with the discipline such as IEEE, IEC, CSA, etc.
• Self-starter, able to prioritize tasks, put plans in place, and follow through with delivery.
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
• Sound judgment and decision making skills.
• Proven interpersonal, communications, leadership and team skills.
• Proven skills in effectively managing multiple tasks, often under pressure and within time constraints.
• Ability to plan work well, and to be well-organized.
• Must be solution oriented and demonstrate creative thinking.
• Thrives to be an active team player, but can effectively work independently;
• Willing and able to travel

JOB REQUIREMENTS, WORKING CONDITIONS, ETC.:
• Must be able to work effectively as a member of the Project Delivery Team within a multi-functional team
environment.
• This position requires the ability to accept responsibility and make decisions in a highly technical environment.
• Must be able to work in a collaborative/supportive manner with stakeholders.
• Worksite will be Lower Churchill Project Office, St. John’s, NL (primary) and potentially construction Sites, including
Soldiers Pond, Muskrat Falls, Churchill Falls, Forteau and Shoal Cove.
• Occasional travel out of Province and out of country for shop surveillance and factory acceptance tests.
• Demonstrate a willingness to adhere to vision and values.
