About the position:
Bike Share Field Technicians (balancers) re-distribute bikes between the stations, check bikes in the field, and carry out minor field repairs. This is a driving-heavy role and you will also carry out a variety of operational support tasks including bike station maintenance and cleaning.
You may be a fit if you know Vancouver well, chafe at the concept of sitting at a desk, and don’t mind helping the public from time to time.
Each bike share team member can expect to work on a variety of tasks related to overall system health.

This is a full-time (min. 32 hours per week), fixed-term position ending on September 30th with option to extend.

We operate “Mobi by Shaw Go”, Vancouver’s public bike share system. Since launching in July 2016, we have grown to a system-size that includes 2,000 bikes and 200 stations, and we’ve facilitated 2.8+ million trips for more than 138,500 different people. Great candidates will have:
An ability to load, lift, and move bicycles and equipment (~50 pounds)
Excellent driving skills and a valid Class 5 BC Drivers License in good standing (experience driving large vehicles considered an asset)
Comfort and ease with tablets (iPad) and mobile & web-based apps
A willingness to work outdoors in all types of weather
Ability to start early (6:30am) or end late (10:30pm) from our East Van HQ (weekends may be expected).

An interest in cycling and sustainable transportation
Willingness to learn and collaborate
Bonus asset: Familiarity with the Vancouver street-network/local geography
