Director of Hotel Operations – D P Murphy Inc – Moncton

D.P. Murphy Hotels and Resorts is Atlantic Canada’s Largest Hotel Company, holding nine properties.  We are currently searching for a Director of Operations to oversee the portfolio.  The Director will report to the President of D.P. Murphy Inc.

The Director of Hotel Operations is key to the success of D.P Murphy Hotels & Resorts portfolio, the ideal candidate is one who can lead with a passion that inspires his or her team of General Manager’s and attracts the industry’s best talent. The successful candidate must also provide strategic leadership expertise that ensures the effective and efficient operation of the hotel while improving on the current model, and in doing so, helps their property and our business thrive.

The Director of Operations will elicit superior performance from their properties, exhibit excellence in cultivating the guest experience, and succeed in the translation of their vision for future business. They will have unlimited opportunities within Atlantic Canada and among the brands that compose our continually growing portfolio of hospitality experiences.

Essential Responsibilities:

Work in conjunction with the General Managers to actively manage all day to day operational areas of the hotels in order to meet and exceed guest expectations (travel throughout the Maritimes frequently to provide this ongoing support)
Provide professional and courteous hospitality at all times.
Evaluates and monitors individual hotel performance, assist General Managers with giving direction, training, and delivering performance appraisals; who will in turn, provide the same level of support for their individual teams.
Assist in the development of meaningful, attainable hotel budgets and other short and long term hotel strategic goals.
Plan, direct, and coordinate with General Managers to ensure communication and resolution of problems.
Conducts hotel visits to confirm standards are achieved in hospitality, accuracy, quality, guest service, and cleanliness.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 years hotel management experience.
A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Hotel Management or equivalent.
Strong leadership skills and a high level of initiative to effectively manage and motivate the team.
Experience in managing budgets, revenue proposals, and forecasting results.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
Accountable and resilient.
Highly organized, able to handle large volumes of work and prioritize accordingly.
