About Us:
The Alberta Urban Municipalities Association (AUMA) was founded in 1905 and represents Alberta’s 271 urban municipalities including cities, towns, villages, summer villages, and specialized municipalities.  As an order of government, these municipalities are responsible for providing a range of services and infrastructure including public transit, police, fire, and emergency services, by-law enforcement, water, sanitary and storm drainage, libraries, museums, halls, parks and recreation, family and community supports, airport services, and more.

As a non-profit organization, AUMA develops programs and services to build the capacity of municipalities.  As well, we advocate for their interests to provincial and federal governments as well as other provincial and federal organizations.  Our goal is to develop a strong partnership between all three orders of government through a shared vision with long term planning that facilitates social and economic growth, a strategic and stable funding matrix for capital projects, vital emergency and social services as well as implementation and coordination in the delivery of these services to ensure the sustainability of the Alberta Advantage.
