Summer Law Student – Seaboard Transport – Dartmouth

The Seaboard Transport Group is a privately-held organization comprised of numerous transport brands across Canada and the United States. We are celebrating our 50th year in business in 2014. Seaboard is a recognized leader in the Bulk Truckload Industry through iour safe, reliable and professional operating philosophy. Our organization has grown by providing excellent service to both the petroleum and chemical industries while diverging into dedicated transport services.

Currently we are hiring a Summer Law Student position for the four-month period running from the first week of May to the end of August. This student will be assisting our Legal Counsel with daily activities as well as completing an industry specific research project.

Core Job Functions:

Completing an industry specific research project
Provide legal assistance to legal counsel which may include:
Researching and drafting memos; and
Researching and drafting a regulatory compliance framework; and
Reviewing legal documents
Conducting ongoing legal, policy and general research regarding transportation of dangerous goods
Other duties as required

Job Requirements:

Only applications from students who have completed their first year of law school with be considered
Experience conducting legal research via the major legal research databases
Advanced capabilities with MS Office, including: MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
Strong communication skills – verbal and written
Excellent organization and time- management skills
Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
High-level of attention to detail
Critical thinking and analytical skills required
