Communications & Administration Officer – East End United

Purpose:
To support East End United’s mission, objectives and community/congregational engagement through effective use of technology in worship, social media, and communications; build sustainable capacity within the volunteer base in the areas of technology and communications; to assist in the smooth running of day-to-day operations; and provide administrative support to the Minister as required.
Context:
East End United is a joining of 3 faith communities with two active sites. East End United is a vibrant, inclusive, and active faith community dedicated to nurturing its members’ faith and service in the neighbourhoods of its two locations. The church is deeply committed to social justice, particularly in the area of food security. All staff positions are created and directed by the goal of building capacity and resilience in the member in these goals.

Responsibilities and Priorities
Technology Support: the incumbent will have broad responsibility for maintaining and operating a range of technical services (30%):
ZOOM operations for Sunday morning worship.
REALM, the church’s online membership management and engagement platform.
MAILCHIMP, for mass distribution of email and a regular e-newsletter.
WORDPRESS, for the church’s website.
Manage Email addresses and security.
Manage Google shared drives.
Assists users (mostly congregational members) in the use of REALM, ZOOM, etc.
Make recommendations to EEU for upgrades, new technologies, etc. to optimize the use of technology in furthering the church’s goals.
Communications: the incumbent will coordinate a variety of tools to promote high quality communications within and beyond the congregation (30%)
Maintain and update content on the EEU website, and work with contract developer on enhancements to the site.
Publish Weekly e-newsletters to the membership database.
Post content to social media to promote public awareness and engagement with the church’s programs.
Promote and facilitate consistent use of EEU’s identity and branding marques.
Make recommendations for better strategies and new opportunities for enhanced internal and external communications.
Community & Congregational Support: the incumbent will work with members and volunteers (internal and external to the congregation) to facilitate and encourage their participation in furthering the church’s goals within the area of this position, i.e., technology, communications, and administration (20%)
Support volunteers in the technology of worship, meetings, etc. on the above-mentioned platforms.
Assist in the production of reports (major initiatives, Annual Report, etc.) by coordinating the incoming content from members.
Assist in the production and completion of the UCC annual statistical report (Blue Forms).
Make recommendations for other ways to enable deeper volunteer engagement in these areas.
Ministerial & Worship Administrative Support: (10%)

Produce print and digital materials for worship in collaboration with the Minister.
Coordinate copyright and music licenses in collaboration with music staff.
Coordinate membership lists and database in collaboration with volunteers.
Other duties as assigned. (10%)

Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience.
1 – 2 years’ experience providing technical support.
Familiarity with Google Suite: Gmail, calendars, sheets, forms, docs, team drives etc.
Proficient in MS Office applications: Word, Excel, Powerpoint
Asset if proficient in: Adobe Suite, WordPress, Facebook, Mailchimp, SurveyMonkey, Google Analytics, and have worked with a CRM.
Proven ability to balance multiple priorities.
Show initiative; willing and prepared to take on new tasks and learn independently.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Working conditions.
Must adhere to EEU’s COVID-19 protocols in place at any given time.
Must be vaccinated.
Note: EEU requires congregants to be fully vaccinated to attend in-person gatherings.
Shared office space at Eastminster location (310 Danforth Ave.).
Flexible hours in consultation with the supervisor, however, must work on Sunday mornings.
some work may be done remotely in consultation with the supervisor.
occasional overtime to meet seasonal needs.
